Morzine in winter is truly stunning. Situated deep within the Chablais mountain range, Morzine is one of France’s most popular ski destinations, offering 120 kilometres of skiable terrain spread across 69 glorious runs. Morzine-Avoriaz is the most northerly of the French alpine winter ski holiday resorts. Thanks to a unique microclimate midway between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the ski area benefits from much higher average snowfall levels than other winter destinations in the French Alps. Consequently, Morzine-Avoriaz boasts fantastic snow conditions to rival those of any ski resort in the Alps. Alongside an impressive lift network and state of the art snowmaking facilities, under normal snow conditions we enjoy excellent skiing almost from the doorstep of all our accommodation in Morzine.
The village is set in the valley with unique low-rise wooden chalets and is surrounded by white mountains as far as the eye can see. Morzine is considered one of the best ski resorts for families and caters to all levels from beginner to expert. Morzine is in the Portes du Soleil ski area of France, close to Switzerland and just over an hour from Geneva Airport. From Morzine you have access to miles of connecting ski areas and accessibility to Avoriaz and Les Gets.
You can enjoy snowshoeing, ice-skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides, sledging and a quaint village with many little shops, bars and restaurants. Over Christmas and New Year Morzine becomes even more alive with parades, fireworks and the opportunity to see Santa in his grotto. Depending on the date you have the opportunity to descend the mountain by candle-light or visit the annual Rock The Pistes music festival which are always popular events.
